6 Month Check-Up

Just playing around on the exam table.

She had her eyes on the nurse that was about to give her her vaccines. LOL.

"Alright, Mom. Can we go now??"

Six Months:
Weight: 13 lbs. 7 oz. (6th percentile)
Height: 27 inches (75th-90th percentile)
Head circumference: 16 1/4 inches (10th-25th percentile)

Today we had Madison's 6 month well baby check-up. As always I was nervous about putting her on the scale as she has been a bit too small in the pediatrician's eyes. Today she weighed 13 lbs. 7 oz. (in the 6th percentile.....to be exact). I couldn't get the usual picture of her on the scale because she was attempting to roll herself off the scale. Safety first. LOL. The pediatrician was very please with her weight gain as was I. I am feeling so much better about this appointment than I have her other appointments as the pediatrician reassured me that she is completely content with Madison's size. She is just going to be my LITTLE peanut! And I LOVE that! I would much rather have a petite baby girl than a overweight, gigantic baby girl!

Maddie tolerated her three vaccines like a champ. She barely even let out a whimper and even smiled at the nurse just after her shots. That's my girl!

Madison continues to amaze me every day with her adorable personality, laughter, and development! It's just amazing how fast she is changing. Today she actually sat up unassisted for the longest that she has yet. Usually she will sit upright for a few seconds before toppling forward or to one side or the other. Today she was sitting up all by herself playing for a few minutes! Of course just as I moved to get the camera she looked at me and.....timber! LOL.

Happy Half-Year Birthday Madison!

Sitting up like a big girl! (well, with a little help from the couch)

Half a year old!

Bundled up and ready for a stroll with mommy in the sunshine.

HOLLYWOOD!

WOW! 6 months old ALREADY?!?! What an amazing past 6 months it has been. I honestly cannot imagine my life without my little girl. SHE IS MY WORLD! It's been so much fun to watch her grow and develop. It's crazy how quickly she is learning new things. Maddie is now rolling over like crazy and at times finding herself stuck under the coffee table or wedged in a place that she just does not know how to get out of. Guess rolling is her mode of transportation for now and I'll take it. Before long she will be getting into EVERYTHING once she starts crawling. I just want to her stay little for ever! Although she might have rolling over down, she still needs to perfect her sitting up skills. She sits up at times but only for a few seconds before attempting to topple forward or from one side to the next. Considering how quickly she is changing, I bet it wont be long until she will be sitting unassisted to play. :-)

Maddie is thoroughly enjoying her solid foods. So far she really has seemed to enjoy the squash, pears, sweet potatoes, and apples that she has had. Tonight we will be trying peas for the first time! Will post again soon with her response to the peas as well as her 6 month well baby checkup. We did have an appointment for a "weight check" last week. Although she is continuing to gain weight - she was 12lbs. 13oz. on January 16th - she still remains my little peanut in the 5th percentile. :-)

Squash Face

YUMMY......squash!

So far Madison has really seemed to like the new solids that she has tried. On January 8th, we started her out with butternut squash. It took her several bites to get used to the different texture and taste, but she quickly ate up the entire bowl full. Because you are supposed to wait 3-4 days to introduce a different fruit or vegetable, several says later she tried pears for the first time. She really seemed to enjoy her pears as well. This evening she will get her first taste of sweet potatoes. I have read and been told that babies usually tend to REALLY enjoy the sweet potatoes because of the smooth texture and sweetness (hence the name) LOL. It has really been a lot of fun making her food for her. What an inexpensive, fun, and easy task! I am loving it!!

Freshly baptized.

Dress #2. Totally frilly and girly!

Our happy family.

Sharing a cup of tea with Cousin Claire. They played so well together.

Beautiful cake from Great Granny to celebrate this special day!

Playing with her feet.

YUMMY toes!

Sunday January 2nd was a very special day. Our little girl Madison Rose was baptized surrounded by so many family and friends. We could not be more blessed to welcome Madison into such a loving and caring church family. Madison wore a very beautiful Christening gown that has been in the family for many, many years. Both my brother and I wore the very same Christening gown when we were baptized as infants.

After the church service we had the family up for some brunch at our house. It was a great time to have EVERYONE together to celebrate Maddie's baptism and spend some more quality family time together. How did we get so lucky with such an amazing family?!?! WE LOVE YOU ALL. Thank you so very much for all your love and support over the years.

She's Rolling Over!

Madison has now perfected her rolling over skills. She is rolling over from her back to her tummy on a regular basis. She began doing this regularly on December 31st, 2010. Way to celebrate a big milestone on the last day of 2010!!! She has yet to master rolling from her tummy to her back so she tends to get frustrated after rolling onto her tummy. We can't believe how quickly time is flying by with her. Hard to believe that the next big milestone will be sitting unaided and then crawling and walking. Is there anyway we can slow time down?

Loving her rice cereal.

Licking her bowl clean.

"Awww man....it's all gone?!?!"

"Can't a girl eat in peace?"

She's just got to get it all.

Attempting to feed herself like a big girl.

Madison just LOVES her rice cereal. She often enjoys licking her bowl clean as seen in the above photos. We have yet to try any fruits and vegetables, but I received a new food processor and baby food making supplies for Christmas and plan on starting that journey with her soon. Things have just been so busy with the holidays that I have not been able to find the time to prepare her food in bulk as I plan to. Now that the holidays are over I will be able to find more time to focus on that project. Can't wait to see her likes and dislikes with the new food she will soon be trying.
